How to start

For every project there is a beginning. The beginning for a knitting circle is the desire of two or more people to gather together to share their love of knitting. Every city has many possible places for a circle to meet. For us this was the trickiest part of getting our circle started. We live in a small community and while there is a variety of locations we needed something that would suit small numbers while we grew our circle. Promotions

Promoting your circle is vital to letting everyone in the community know about your newly formed knitting circle and its meeting dates. Word of mouth is a great way to get your message out especially if you are affiliated with other organizations. However to reach a larger audience you will need to use other more traditional means to communicate with potential new members. First meeting

It is often said that you only have one chance to make a first impression, the same could be said about a first meeting. The knitting circle you dreamt of starting will be competing with many other community activities for members and their time. Charity

We found very early on in the existence of Knitting Circle Armstrong that the members were very eager to knit items for those less fortunate. Even at our very first meeting we discussed the possibilities for charity projects. Every community has organizations that welcome and need knitted goods.
