April
Dear Knitters,
Each morning as I meditate I hear the birds singing to welcome the day. Even
though the weather is not that warm they are happy; so I should be happy too.
Cozy Sweater
My sweater made from wool from Peru and Uruguay is wanting a sleeve. And I’m
not sure if I’ll get it finished this spring or put it aside for fall. My
garden is calling me more and more. This sweater has such an interesting
pattern. You start by knitting the back rectangular panel. Then you knit a
band 10 stitches wide to go all around; attaching to the bottom and the
neckline of the back. By picking up stitches along the back and around the
band, the sleeve is worked in the round to the desired length; finished by a
band. I really love the feel of the hand-died wool and I’m looking forward to
wearing this sweater.
Knit in the Park
Our big event this year is to be the Kick off for Armstrong’s 11 days of
Celebration leading up to Canada Day. We will be knitting in Memorial Park in
Armstrong from 11am to 3pm on Saturday June 21. Bring a lunch, some knitting,
a yarn needle or crochet hook if you’d like to help put a blanket together and
a folding chair. This will be a great opportunity for knitters up and down the
valley to get together and share and knit.
Thanks to All
A big thank you to all knitters who have put together blankets or made hats
and scarves. The numbers are astounding. Since we began making blankets in the
fall of 2007 we have donated over 85 to local organizations. The number of
hats, scarves and mitts donated is mounting. Do not forget that if you want to
knit with donation in mind you can get yarn from Pat (no charge) 546-2465.
Meeting dates
We will be meeting at 7pm at the Chamber on the following dates:
May 1st, 8th, 22nd
June 5th and 12th
June 21 11am to 3pm at Memorial park
Our plans for July and August are still up in the air.
See you all soon.
