October

Dear Knitters,

Oh, how I love the fall with the chilly breezes and scuffing my feet in the leaves on the sidewalk. Most of all, the colours of fall captivate my senses. I have been longing to knit a fall coloured sweater for years but haven’t found just the right yarn. But I keep on looking.

Who’s got yarn?
Pat is storing donated yarn in her back room. If you need yarn for any of our blankets or Christmas projects do not hesitate to give her a call at 546-2465. To make the blanket making process easier Pat has sorted and pre-packaged the right amount of coordinated squares and a matching skein of yarn into a “blanket kit” ready to be taken home to work on.

Squares and more squares
Carole Bacon and her mom, Olga Zalubniak of 90 years, had a knitting good time over the summer. We received a big box of fifty squares from these ladies from Kamloops. If anyone is going to Kamloops please give her a call and she would be happy to meet you and give you some squares to bring back to Armstrong. It would be nice to save her the postage. Call Judy for Carole’s phone and email if you are heading to Kamloops.

Thailand Trip
Carol’s grandson, Jesse, is going to Thailand in the Summer of 2008. Jesse is taking an extra suitcase full of articles to give to some less fortunate Thai people. Carol thought we might like to donate some touks. So guess what Louise brought to our last meeting? She put a big bag of touks (at least 40) on the table that she has made in her spare time over the past year. Thanks Louise for donating your touks.

Christmas is around the corner
We have committed to making a tree full of knitted items for the Armstrong Christmas Tree Gala during December. So if you’d like, please knit some bells, stars, mini-stockings, hats, or scarves for our tree. Marlene found some darling miniature stockings, hats, trees etc. Go to www.knitlist.com and search for miniature patterns in the search box.
See you at our next meeting on Thursday, November 1st at 7pm at the Chamber.

Happy Knitting,

Judy
