March

Happy Spring Knitters,

Beautiful Blankets
I am bubbling over with joy about how well our beautiful blankets have been received. Each and every one of our blankets displays artistry, workmanship and hours of caring. They all have been a feast of colours and textures for the eyes. I have included photos of Jenn and Lynn’s and Marge’s latest blankets for you to see an example of the creativity and caring that goes into these blankets.

New Design
We have shown how well we work together with the log cabin blanket. The blankets design was based on the log cabin quilt design. We each took a different length of strip to crochet or knit. It is taking a bit longer but it will be well worth the effort. We spent some time as a group deciding on the colours for the last three pieces we needed to finish the blanket. It was decided to edge it with a navy crocheted scallop. This blanket promises to be really stunning. I have included a photo of the rough layout of the blanket to give you an impression of the blanket.

Display Our Wares and Cares
We are excited about the opportunity that our group has to be a part of the community with a display at the Chamber’s Trade Show on April 28th. This event would afford us possibilities to showcase all that we have done for the less fortunate as well as gather new members from local knitters who have not heard about us.

Christmas Plans
Marge B was mentioning that the Chamber has a silent auction during the Christmas month long display. She thought that we could make some really skookum (my word) afghans or lap robes to donate to the auction. We were already planning on making a “tree” full of little things like booties, decorations, hats, scarfs for the month long display. It is going to be hard to choose what to do with all those interesting patterns out there. I have started to put some of the more intriguing ones aside.

Thank You List Grows
Noelline wanted to make sure that we thanked the following people for donations of squares and yarn. We will be signing and sending out Thank You cards at our next meeting.
Paule Wahlstrom
Ouida Kemptner
Margrit Johnson
Lynda Fowler
Sophie Hamel
Karen Johanson
Marsha Boling
Colleen Springford
Karin Appledoorne

Also a big thank you to anyone who has left squares at the Never Ending Yarn or the Chamber. We can’t thank you properly if you remain anonymous. Please don’t forget to sign your name on the Thank you list at the store or Chamber.

I just can’t wait until our next meeting, Thursday, March 22 @ 7 pm at the Chamber. I might just have a couple of surprises up my sleeve.

Cheers,

Judy
