August
Dear Knitters,
The gathering at Pat’s house on July 12th was a very pleasant social event. Thank you Pat for welcoming Knitting Circle members and their husbands to your home. Pat’s lovely garden was the perfect spot for the potluck and friendly conversation. I look forward to next year’s summer potluck social.
Kelowna Yarn Tour
Are you ready for a summer yarn tour? We’re heading to Kelowna on Aug 2nd to visit and browse yarn stores. We have a variety of stores for our itinerary. They are Kelowna Yarn & Needlecrafts,The Art of Yarn, which has two store locations to choose from and Hummingbird Cottage Crafts. Of course we’ll leave plenty of time for cold beverages and lunch along the way. At days end we should be all tuckered out, having many pleasant memories of looking and feeling some spectacular yarns.
RSVP Please
To make sure we have enough cars and spaces available could you please RSVP to Marlene at 546-6325 if you are going on the tour. We will meet at P V Heights condominium parking lot at 2435 Pleasant Valley Road at 9:30 am on August 2nd. I will be back in Armstrong on August 1st so give me a call then if you need directions or ask Marlene when you RSVP.
Friends of the Knitting Circle
A number of knitting groups across Canada have found our Website and contacted us with information about their group’s activities. One group of note, West Coast Knitters, is sponsoring a Knit in the Park Day in August. They set up folding chairs in Stanley Park and knit with members, friends, and other knitters from the surrounding area. They were very thankful that we would promote their event on our Knitting Circle website.
Helping Hands
A big thanks to our Knitting Circle Members from the outskirts who supplied us with a quantity of beautiful blanket squares. Betty Oberg from Vernon saw the photos of our blankets on our Website and wanted to help out. She sent us a box full of beautifully coloured squares. (And she has more!) Sonia Cowan from Enderby brought 2 bags of strips to the Chamber for us. Eighty-five year old Bernice Evans from Vernon gave us numerous colours of moss stitch squares. I delivered some of our donated yarn to her so that she could continue knitting. And Marilyn from Vernon gave us some real wool.
Happy knitting
from the Kootenays,
Judy
