January
Dear Knitters,
I am looking out the window at the snow gently falling. It is reminding me to
slow down and enjoy the moment and the season. And what better things to do in this season but to curl up and knit.
New Year
It’s the beginning of the New Year and our circle has taken on a new project.
Now, that doesn’t mean that we have given up on making blankets for the needy. It just means that our focus has expanded to include making touks, mitts, and scarves and small blankets for the Gleaners. In return we have received at
least two bags full of yarn. You should have seen the collective glee when our
circle got to sort and feel all that glorious wool. Isn’t that part of what
knitting is all about?
Raspberry Ripple
I started a hat and mitts made from a raspberry ripple mohair, acrylic, and
wool fibre over the holidays. Since I started back to school it seems like its
taking forever to finish the scarf. It will make a lovely set to give to the
Gleaners.
More Circles
Just received an email from Katherine in Pemberton. She has decided to start a
Knitting Circle in her area. She has a sister in Vernon and may even visit us
if the weather permits. Good luck Katherine and let us know how your circle is
doing.
Blankets
Knitting Circle Armstrong began in October of 2006 and since that time we have
knitted/ crocheted and donated over 64 full size blankets to local
organizations. See the gallery for photos. Most of the squares have been
donated to us from the public. We still have a number of blanket kits ready to
sew together. Give Pat a call for a kit or for yarn—546-2465.
Raw Fleece
Anna writes with two links for anyone who likes to start with the raw fleece.
For photos check out http://www.flickr.com/photos/22984527@N08/. And for all Canadian fleece (sheep, alpaca, rabbit, etc.) check out
http://ca.groups.yahoo.com/group/fleecenfibreCanada/.
Brain Flash
Pat graciously stores our yarn in her covered porch. Usually she picks some
yarn by guess or by golly to bring to the meeting. If you need yarn and will
be attending why not phone in your request ahead so that we can deliver what
you need. Phone Judy 546-9475 or Pat 546-2465.
Silent Auction Winner
We donated a lovely blanket to the Armstrong Chamber’s Silent Auction that took place on the Sundays in December. The lucky winner was Pat Hudson.
Our next meeting is Thursday February 7th. In February we return to meeting
the first, second and fourth Thursdays in February. That will be the 7th,
14th, and 28th.
Enjoy the season.
