May

Dear Knitters,
As the weather gets progressively warmer I am finding all kinds of reasons to do other things than knit. I am little by little getting the last arm of my sweater finished. Because it is so big and bulky I have an excuse to have another smaller project on the go. I tend to pick up my knitting while I am waiting for my carpool to arrive or leave so I need something small. I am starting a multi-coloured poncho made of mitered squares for donation to the Gleaners.

Heart & Stroke
Our friend and fellow knitter Pat recently experienced a heart attack. She brought us up-to-date information regarding FEMALE symptoms of heart attack which seem to differ from the standard male symptoms.
www.healthy-heart-guide.com/heart-attack-symptoms-in-women.html Marlene also added some information about stroke symptoms. http://www.heartandstroke.com/site/c.ikIQLcMWJtE/b.3483937/k.8989/Warning_Signs.htm We are all in the age group where heart and stroke are quite prevalent.

Shopping Bag
I have finished my shopping bag. My sister had dumped a number of bags of yarn and a few kits in my lap a year ago. So I decided to try the shopping bag kit made from cotton and linen. The pattern was written in knit as well as crochet. If I can avoid working on three needles I will. So I chose to make this bag by the crochet method. I took it with me to the farmer’s market last Saturday and it worked well.

Knit-out in the Park
On June 21st we will be knitting in the park between 11 am and 3 pm, rain or shine. Bring a lunch, a lawnchair, some knitting and your smile. We are honored to kick off the 11 days of celebration leading up to Canada Day. We hope to see you there.

June Meetings
Our meetings for June will be on the 5th and the 12th at 7 pm at the Chamber. Is anyone interested in hostessing a picnic in July. I would like to take the circle on another Yarn Tour in August. We had such a fun time last year.

Happy Knitting
