November
Dear Knitters,
The weather is changing and we are only a month away from Christmas. Does November always go by this quickly? I have been busy knitting little things for our Christmas Tree Display. They are so cute and they take no time at all. My favourite was a little two needle stocking (no taller than three inches) that took me a half hour to whip up.
Yarn Donations
A big thank you to Becky, Susan, and Ivy, all from Vernon, who have donated yarn and needles. Becky and Ivy have had to give up knitting because of arthritis. Susan’s late mother was a crafter and Susan wanted the items to go someone who would use the materials. We are fortunate to be the recipients of such nice yarn.
Good News
Marge B called the Gleaners to find out about their donations. We were pleased to find out that they collect hats, mitts, scarves and other items year round to send to needy folks in Eastern Europe, South America and elsewhere. What that means for us is that we can divert some of our energies into making hats, mitts, and scarves from the quality wool we have set aside.
This goes here and that goes there
Kudos to Pat and Marge G for spending an afternoon sorting our yarn. We do have a lot of it. We have baby yarn, worsted, buffalo yarn and lots of acrylic in almost any colour. If you need yarn for hats, scarves, mitts or blankets give Pat a call 546-2465 to arrange a time to pick up yarn.
Christmas Tree Gala Plans
We have decided to put up a tree filled with knitted items for display only. We will be donating most of the items to the Gleaners when the display is over. Everyone will get a chance to view our display for four Sundays in December. Please meet us at 11 am on December 2nd at the IPE Horticulture Building to set up. If you can’t make it please transfer your items to someone is who going.
Seasonal Meeting Dates
‘Tis the season to be merry. The Knitting Circle Armstrong will be meeting on December 6th and 13th and January 10th and 24th at 7 pm at the Chamber.
I only have four more weeks until Christmas Break. Luckily my students have not started exhibiting their Christmas craziness...yet. The first dump of snow while beautiful hasn’t helped; snowmen and snowballs have started popping up all over. It is starting to feel a lot more like Christmas.
See you at the tree trimming on December 2nd.
