September

Dear Knitters,
Looking back over the summer the highlights for me have been activities related to the knitting circle. In July we gathered in Pat’s garden for a enjoyable pot luck and social. In August a delegation of the knitting circle traveled to Kelowna for an incredible yarn tour. The September issue of Country Knitter Magazine covers the three stores we visited in more detail.

Knitting Circle Canada
I have been overwhelmed by the response to the Knitting Circle Canada website. A non-knitting counselor for a women’s shelter wrote asking if we knew of any knitting circles in Ontario that could teach her clients
how to knit. I forwarded her email to a few of the Toronto Groups listed on our website in hopes they might make a connection. I also advised her to try local yarn shops in her area. She found what she was looking for and was very grateful for our assistance.
Our group and the Knitting Circle Canada website were also featured in the West Coast Knitters Summer newsletter.

Knitting Circle Expands
We have been receiving requests from knitters from all over Canada to be put on the email list for the Country Knitter on-line magazine and the Circle Chat. Everyone has been so up beat and friendly. Our knitting community is growing and growing.
Our “stash” of yarn and squares is also growing. A number of knitters have called offering us yarn. Some were moving and wanted their yarn to go to a good home while others wanted to help us aid the less fortunate.

Off to a good start
Our September meeting was well attended by new and familiar knitting circle members. We are committed to producing more blankets for the less fortunate. In addition we decided to make some touks, scarves, and smaller items to be displayed and raffled at the Armstrong Christmas Tree Gala. In October we will resume our meetings on the first, second, and fourth Thursdays of the month. Our next meeting is October 4th at the Chamber. See you then.
